Ukrainian and Russian sound the same to me... it's all gibberish and funky symbols for letters. Sorry expro

Well alright, are cantonese, mandrin, japanese, and korean, and any other asian languages that I have missed the same?
They use some symbols that are very different from english. What about arabic? Is that also the same thing.
I do not really get offended by this all that much, but seriously is there no limit to ignorance? Just because something looks and sounds foreign to you does not mean that it needs to be bundled in with all the other things that you do not understand.
Polish, Russian, Ukrainian, Belorussian those are all different absolutely separate languages.
I can easily speak and understand both Russian and Ukrainian, however with Polish I can catch bits and pieces, not even enough to get by, same goes for Belorussian.
I just get annoyed because there is a clear understanding that Chinese, Japanese, and Korean are different, so how come eastern European languages and cultures get shoved into the to group of "russian"?!
What is even more insulting is that durring the USSR Ukrainian was banned in schools, and everyone had to know only Russian. To be able to speak the language of my forefathers is a blessing and something that I hold quite a bit of pride in. I would very much appreciate if people did not shit on the one part of my culture and heritage that I hold so dear.

I don't think they get shoved into the group of "Russian" except by Bro-Scro... I always refer to them as "Eastern European" or "Slavic" languages.... Because that's technically PC even though I abhor PC...
